Mating Speedometer Connector - "Done the Right Way"
Always striving to "make it easy for you to do it right," Oreland, Pennsylvania based NAMZ Custom Cycle Products has spent over 21 years coming up with solutions for problems that shouldn't exist.
One such arose back in 2005 when, having found that water can interfere with the signal or cause damage to the speedometer, Harley started using a watertight speedometer connector - specifically a watertight 3-position Deutsch connector on the speed sensor, which was mounted in the transmission for the same reason.

The issue was that this new 12-position watertight speedo connector was only available from Harley and there was no mating male connector. How did they make it work? Just like several other connectors, the mating connector was built into the housing of what it is plugged into - example, the 4-position female connector that plugged directly into the ignition coil.
This posed a problem for speedometer relocation, and especially for NAMZ to be able to make a plug-n-play harness. To save money and make matters even less user-friendly, back in 2010 the factory started using this same connector on the fender tip tri-bar light on Street and Road Glides.
"Serviceability has always been important to our product designs," says president and Chief Technical officer Jeff Zielinski. "Sometimes there are what appear to be cheaper ways of doing things, but for us quality is at a premium if it is to have our name on it, so when it came to designing a practical, durable and ergonomically efficient mating connector, we decided to do it the right way.

"Our male speedo connector is available individually and from a selection of 100% plug-n-play harnesses - it is 100%, which means the wiring can be de-pinned for repairs. The removable 12-position wire seal keeps moisture out and 12 male terminals are included for simple do-it-yourself installation.
