Baker Drivetrain

Classic Style Meets Modern Performance

The Baker 6-into-4 transmission is a game-changer for those who value both classic style and modern performance. This transmission brings the best of both worlds to the table, offering the iconic look of a 4-speed case with the smooth, reliable shifting of a 6-speed. It's perfect for those looking to enhance their ride without sacrificing the timeless appeal of their bike.

Brian Buttera of Buttera Metal Werx (Florida) is a master at blending artistry with engineering, and he knows the value of top-notch components. That's why he chooses the Baker 6-into-4 transmission for his custom builds.

Brian's meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence make the 6-into-4 a natural fit for his work. Along with the Baker 4-speed, these transmissions allow Brian to craft bikes that not only look incredible, but also deliver outstanding performance on the road.

The Baker 6-into-4 transmission has a Baker OD6-based transmission on the inside, with a range of cases, shift systems and cover options available. The benefits are that it smooths out the highway rattle and stays right in the powerband where riders want and need it to stay.

It comes in two different versions. Baker's 1936-64 case, with no 'ear', to work with the factory primary, and a 1965-1986 version that includes the primary 'ear' bosses. These can be used with stock primary applications, belt drive applications, or running no primary plate at all.

For the 1936-1964 tapered mainshaft applications, note that the 6-into-4 case does not contain an alignment track or a provision for the primary adjustment bolt that you would normally find on a stock case.

There are four different mainshafts available for Knucklehead, Panhead or Shovelhead: 1936 to 1964 tapered mainshaft; 1965 to 1969 tapered mainshaft; 1970 to E1984 tapered mainshaft and late 1984 to 1986 long tapered mainshaft.

The bearing door will be built with a polished billet aluminum bearing door; the top cover will be built with a polished, forged aluminum top cover with neutral switch. The sprocket/pulley is not included in the complete transmission assembly - speak with Baker for these components.
