American Prime Manufacturing

Clutch Technology That Works...

Industry veteran Ben Kudon, President of California based American Prime Manufacturing (APM), says: "There are many clutches out there, but there are none that work as well as the Comp Master."

"Our Comp Master clutch series utilizes state-of-the-art diaphragm spring technology for even pressure on the friction and drive plates, providing 100% downward force. Our diaphragm springs are the best in the industry for minimal wrist strain and maximum clutch pack pressure. That means maximum horsepower and torque delivery to the rear wheel."

APM clutch hubs are made from high-strength, hardened aluminum and hardened steel with "exacting tolerances in the teeth and splines for superb clutch plate alignment and maximum engagement."

There are three different silver diaphragm springs available in black, silver and gold "to maximize power output." The outer aluminum hub is made of CNC-machined, high-strength aluminum with a hard face coating, while the inner steel drive hub is CNC-machined in hardened steel and coated to "minimize surface rust."

APM clutch packs are made with carbon/Kevlar friction material that Ben describes as "aggressive but easy to control."

Comp Master clutches cover Harley Big Twins from 1937-present M-8 models, and Ben says: "APM designs all its parts to interchange with Rivera Primo parts of the same type and application, with every part manufactured in the U.S.A. and assembled in our Southern California plant."
