WUNDERKIND

Indian Scout Bobber 200 mm Tire Rear Fender Kit

German parts and accessory manufacturer Christian Mehlhorn is best known in Europe for ABM branded street and sports bike parts and accessory production. ABM was originally founded (by Arthur Berthold Nunz) in 1985, with Mehlhorn buying the business in 2010.

He established WUNDERKIND as a premium custom accessories brand in 2013, and in recent years has expanded the previously H-D only program to include options for select Indian Motorcycle models.

This year sees an expansion of his ready-to-install rear fender conversion kits for Indian Scout Bobbers - now available for up to 200 mm wide rear tires.

"More and more motorcyclists are choosing to replace their standard rear tire with a wider model," says Mehlhorn. "The benefits include improved stability and a more robust appearance. This goes hand in hand with the need for a suitable rear fender. But for us, ergonomics and aesthetics are always the most important aspects in development.

"With this new kit, it made sense to use the experience gained from our existing rear fender conversion sets by adding stylish support struts with integrated LEDs and an adjustable comfort seat."

Options include a coordinated side license plate holder "and a range of other parts designs that make the motorcycle look like it was cast from a single mold after the conversion," says Mehlhorn.

The shortened and unpainted sheet metal rear fender is attached to the existing swingarm mount. The shaped struts provide stability and feature integrated 3D-milled LED housings at the upper end with E-tested indicator/taillights and invisibly routed wiring.

The black diamond quilted, mesh insert bobber seat is designed for a relaxed driving style with up to 4.5 cm of backwards adjustment and 4 cm of extra width for a total of 26 cm. Seat height is approx. 70 cm with seat holder, battery compartment/frame cover and seat plate "each made of robust materials and finished in black."

All ABM/WUNDERKIND products are designed and manufactured in-house at its Breisach facility in Southern Germany. "All our custom parts comply with the German StVO (road regulations) or have a parts certificate and are compatible with a large number of motorcycles from the same model family."
